Clyde Scott is a director and projection designer currently based in Miami Beach, FL. He has created national and international commercials and promos, visuals for stadium concert tours, short films, and works of video art made to synchronize with live performances of classical music. In the mid-1990s Mr. Scott founded Electric Sheep—a Miami Beach-based design boutique specializing in motion graphics—where he and his team crafted film and broadcast visuals for clients such as Disney, Shakira, MTV, Nickelodeon, Sony, and Caravan Pictures. In the early 2000s he joined the staff of the New World Symphony and in the following years worked closely with architect Frank Gehry and Gehry Partners on the unprecedented integration of HD video and projection technology into the New World Center.
Mr. Scott has directed over 100 live multi-camera HD and 4KUHD simulcasts featuring prominent artists such as Michael Tilson Thomas, Esa-Pekka Salonen, James Conlon, Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, Christian Tetzlaff, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yuja Wang, Eighth Blackbird, and Bruce Hornsby.
As a projection designer he has created original pieces for orchestral and chamber music performances as well as micro plays and monodramas including: Shaun Naidoo’s Sentient Weather, Luc Ferrari’s Sexolidad, George Antheil’s A Jazz Symphony, Arnold Schoenberg’s Pierrot lunaire, Steve Reich’s Violin Phase, Niccolò Castiglioni’s Inverno In-ver, Peter Maxwell Davies’ Eight Songs for a Mad King, Milton Babbitt’s All Set and Gavin Bryars’ One Last Bar Then Joe Can Sing. Recently he has collaborated with choreographer Rosie Herrera and the Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre to create nearly 20 short works of video art for performances of music by John Adams, Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, Michael Gandolfi, Arturo Márquez, Ted Hearne and others.
In 2018, Musical America recognized Mr. Scott’s innovative contributions to the world of Performing Arts by naming him one of its Professionals of the Year.
In addition, Mr. Scott is also a consultant for organizations seeking to explore complex HD and UHD video capture and presentation systems. He is currently overseeing the New World Symphony's multi-million dollar 4K Ultra High Definition upgrade initiative which will further cement the status of the New World Center as the most technologically advanced concert hall in the world.
